The Best Martial Arts/Drama Comic You've Never Read... It'S ToTaLlY ClICkBaIT (I swear this isn't clickbait)

So a preface on the title, the topic I'm covering sounds like something that is so dramatic it's actually clickbait. Honestly readers, even though clickbaiting might be the shortcut to gaining more pageviews, I am not really writing reports, reviews, or opinions for that. I need an outlet for these thoughts so that I can focus on other tasks. In any case, thanks for continuing to support this blog.

Today in the United States, it is Labor Day. I'm here to talk about a manhwa (Korean-made manga), called The God of Highschoool.

This manga takes place in Korea, and is a lot of things.

1. A dramatic story about life and justice. What it means to be free, what it means to be responsible, and what it means to understand other people.
2. A fast-paced, intricate and explosive martial arts story, with excellently organized fight scenes, quick progression through evolution of the character's strengths, and thoughtful purpose and feelings behind each battle.

Real frame of the manhwa
3. A comedic story with young adults enjoying food and games, old people joking about each other's old age, and middle aged people making fun of each other's names (incredibly situational, but still hilarious).

Odin, is the one with red skin, and Satan is the one with white hair.

4. A story about mythology. The way the author pulls in mythology not only of East Asian cultures, but also of European and American, and South American, and African cultures and uses them in the plot but also for special powers, is remarkable.

What might be the most interesting part about this manhwa, besides its incredible variety in genres, is the way the author manages to keep continuity and flow in the story.

It is one thing for an author to be good at pacing story arcs to keep the interest of the reader or to write an extremely dynamic story that has many plotholes and just occasionally happens upon an exciting moment. However, it is another thing for an author to incorporate slice of life/drama, martial arts, comedy, mythology, with a clone of the main character taking over the story, with a secondary character even more interesting than the main character, with a time-skip unlike any time skip you've ever waited for...

At 375 chapters, The God of Highschool is hardly a suggestable story to start bingeing now. However, the story is about to start getting even better from this point. I honestly believe that even more than Dragon Ball Z, than Naruto, than even One Piece, this is the best martial arts action manga to read.

"It doesn't matter who I am! Whether I'm real or fake! None of that trivial crap matters to me!! Because! Whoever is stronger here is the real one anyway!!"

-Mori Jung to Mori Dan, The God of Highschool Ch. 332

PS: This really doesn't have to do with Labor Day, I just wanted to say when this was written.
PSS: I'm gonna write chapter reviews on this manga anyway.

Update 7/31

Hello folks, Hahahahaha. I've been working in service for a little bit so that's a go-to phrase for me now.  Couple things I want to say in this update. 1. It's Lorie Meza's birthday! Hope you had a great day and hope you have a good party on Sunday! 2. I've got a couple posts in the works. I know it's really bad to keep lying to your audience about new posts coming out. I have some excuses though. 3. I've been keeping this from my blog because I wasn't sure I wanted to share it on the internet, but I have depression and ADHD and these two things combine to keep me from staying committed to my blog. Sometimes I feel inspired to make content and then I can't finish it. I do care about this blog though, and that's why I write these updates. For some reason, writing to the audience without having to make content feels much easier. So yeah, that's pretty much what's up with the blog. If anyone's interested in what games I've

A Greater Understanding of Shonen Jump

I have produced many opinions about manga and anime. That's kind of the point of this blog. And now I am realizing that I have been missing a key point about manga that was kind of necessary so that my opinions were a little more informed than just a criticism of big name manga. That key point is the factor of Shounen Jump manga having the "it" quality. Some very inexperienced readers might call it perfection. It's definitely not perfection, but manga of Shounen Jump that can last for multiple arcs have qualities that are significantly different and significantly better than that of other shounen manga. I will defend my viewpoints on certain things so that I don't out myself as a total hypocrite. First, webtoons, or specifically manhwa webtoons, or specifically God of Highschool is a very unique manga and is further justified by the fact that it is getting an anime. Second, despite not being in Shounen Jump, there are other shounen series that are different an

The sly captain, Kiyose Haiji THERE ARE SPOILERS HERE. IT'S A REVIEW, NOT A BOOK REPORT.  Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru or Run with the Wind is an anime adaptation of a Japanese novel of the same name that has been airing this season (Winter 2018). This is another sports anime that features a group of college roommates who are suddenly made aware that signing the dorm contract means that they have unwittingly joined their university's track and field team. The captain, Kiyose Haiji forces them all to train to run in the Hakone Ekiden, which is a marathon.
